It's the same, but different
When I was young, growing up in Bermuda, there were two things that I liked to do - draw pictures and ride bicycles with my friends. Living on a small island in the 70's offered few options to keep us occupied so it seems that we chose pretty wisely, looking back.

At the end of high school I had a brief moment where I thought I might go to film school, but decided at the last minute that taking a graphic design class would better prepare me for getting a job when I moved home.

At R.I.T. I tried to immerse myself into every form of art: fine art, photography, film/video and of course design. It's the best way to see what you might like doing, and I also believe that inspiration in one art form can come from another. Going through Rochester winters quickly stopped my desire to ride bicycles though.

After school I moved back to Bermuda and became involved in the arts community as well as starting my career in design. Most of my art at the time was paintings on canvas, and most of my design work was advertising and some magazine layout. I could finally get back on a bicycle too, as of course the weather is perfect for outdoor sports here... although somewhat humid.

So now many of my childhood friends are designers, architects or painters and many of us still manage to ride our bicycles many times a week. Most of us have also had a rebirth in our interest in photography, partially due to the advances in digital cameras.

My wife and I also enjoy travel and going to concerts. Bermuda is a small island without much in the way of live music so it is nice to get away and explore new places and see amazing shows at the same time.
